Day 2 of 30 Days of Remakes!

As part of the “30 Days of Remakes!” I decided to watch this, although I really had no interest.

And my lack of interest was mostly confirmed. I hope that the novel by Emily Brontë on which this film was based is more interesting. I am somehow certain that it must be.

But during the film the character of Heathcliff (Olivier), although he may be Cathy’s immortal love interest (Oberon), does not earn the respect of the audience. He’s deeply bitter, in fact a loathesome person. The brother Hindley’s who tortures him had inadvertently won!

Why Did I Choose to Watch This for the Remakes?

Honestly, if it’s an adaptation of a film, the other versions of the film have no reason to be faithful to the original!
